Why Choose Woodlands Forest school
As a Froebels Educational, inspired by a Waldorf Approach and Forest School influences we are dedicated to offering an immersive, balanced educational experience that instills a lifelong passion for nature, enabling children to excel academically, socially, and emotionally.
Froebel's philosophy
of education:
Resting on four basic ideas: free self-expression, creativity, social participation, and motor expression.
Froebel began to focus on the needs of children just prior to entering school. He envisioned a place attended by 4-6 year olds where children would be nurtured and protected from outside influences–like plants in a garden (hence Kinder garden)
Waldorf-Inspired Education:
Nurturing Imagination and Creativity
Inspired by the visionary Rudolf Steiner, Waldorf education strongly emphasizes cultivating the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. At Woodlands Forest School, we seamlessly incorporate Waldorf-inspired principles into our curriculum. We believe that children thrive when their intellectual, artistic, and practical capacities are cultivated in harmony. Our approach encourages imagination and creativity as fundamental aspects of a child’s development as well as their development and creating a sound foundation for their academic success with a gradual integration of technology and enduring human relationships.
Forest School
influences:
Our School program is deeply rooted in the Forest School movement, which champions outdoor learning and an enduring connection with the natural world based on our 5+ acre campus. We recognize that nature provides a rich and dynamic classroom for learning. Children at Woodlands Forest School have the unique opportunity to explore and discover the wonders of the forest, fostering a deep appreciation for the environment and its interconnectedness. Based on Emotional, spiritual, physical, Intellectual, social, communication and language development.
All of this is aimed at developing these aspects in a low-intervention manner rather than instructing the children to think or act in a certain way. The development is encouraged instead by measures such as raising interesting questions, being a role-model for behavior, and allowing children to self-discover and self-regulate.
Our campus will allow our students to create awareness and appreciation of the natural world. Sessions will take place in a natural environment, with trees, enabling use and interaction with natural materials in activities. The outdoor environment is key to providing a different situation for children, where the space is contained but not constrained.
